Postcardz is a non-profit travel guide dedicated to providing objective information and useful opinions on travelling in Australia. The site is written and compiled by volunteer travel writers. The people who contribute to Postcardz come from a range of backgrounds and age-groups, but all share a love for Australia and a love for travel. The site was established in 2005 and is quickly growing to become one of the most popular travel websites in Australia.
Postcardz's aim is to be:
Postcardz is not affiliated with any commercial travel organisation, tourist attraction or government department. We have no advertisers, no 'advertorials', no agenda to push and we strive to maintain scrupulous standards of editorial objectivity. We think Australia is a great place for travellers, but we make sure we tell it like it is. Keeping that in mind, we're also not a newspaper; we're not here to relay the bare facts, we're here to entertain. We take creative licence and at times we're tongue in cheek. Understand that we're not always serious.
A travel guide without opinions is just a glorified street directory. People want to know where the best pub is, who makes the tastiest steak in town, how to find the most scenic route between Sydney and Melbourne and whether Uluru is worth the 12 hour return trip from Alice Springs. We couldn't give this information without offering our opinion, and people's opinions obviously vary. Where we give an opinion on something it is of course subjective. Other people might not agree with us; we might be in the minority. Understand that where we offer opinions, they are just that. If we praise something, it's probably good, but don't take it as gospel. If we say something is crap, it probably is, but don't sue us because we're only making our comments about it in the context of a review. Also keep in mind that things change with time - especially restaurants, bars and (nudist beaches). If we get something wrong, make sure you tell us!
