Make a Travel Booking in Australia

Here's a collection of websites that allow you to book pretty much whatever you want for an Australian holiday.

General Booking Sites

You can book pretty much anything travel-related at the following websites:

  • Zuji
Part of Travelocity, Zuji is affiliated with some of the major travel companies, but offers real value and real choice.
  • Flight Centre
Offers a lowest price guarantee on all airfares and includes hotel bookings.

Booking Direct with Airlines

The main domestic carriers in Australia all charge roughly the same for their cheap fares, but it pays to shop around because there are bargains to be had, especially if you want to fly when no one else does (usually very early in the mornings).

  • Qantas
The largest Australian airline, now pitched at the corporate market, but offers the usual last minute discounts which are comparable with the other carriers
  • Virgin Blue
Virgin by name and nature, but actually owned by a whole bunch of people, only a few of whom are Richard Branson. Currently not sure whether they are a budget carrier or a business competitor.
  • Jetstar
Australia's main budget-only carrier (Virgin Blue has a business class), Jetstar is every bit as professional and every bit as new as the other two main carriers, but interestingly, the prices aren't much cheaper either.
  • Regional Express
If you need to get to a regional town in Eastern Australia, Regional Express is one of the best ways to get there.

Hotel and Accommodation Bookings

Last Minute Sites

It used to be heaps cheaper to book with a last minute website than it was to book directly with the hotel, but my how things have changed. It pays to shop around and double check the rate at the actual hotel website before you give your money to a last minute provider. Hotel chains don't like being undercut!

  • WotIf
Probably the biggest selection of hotel bookings in the country and usually the best rates.
  • RatesToGo
Almost as big a selection, and usually offers a bit of variety as well.

Hotels Groups with Online Bookings

  • Accor Hotels
Includes the Sofitel, Grand Mecure, Novotel, Mercure, All Seasons, Ibis and Hotel Formule 1 chains
  • Mirvac Hotels
Mostly large luxury apartment developments that have been converted into hotels.
  • Stamford
Hotel chain, especially popular in Sydney
  • Best Western
Motel chain with locations right around the country
